Even if the offer of the Society of Outdoor Facilities of Quebec (Sépaq) is already very interesting for amateur anglers, the directors of the state company do not fail to create new structures or even present new opportunities for amateurs every season. The 2023 season is no exception.

In the Rivière-Madeleine sector, on the Gaspé peninsula, a real natural gem has lain dormant for hundreds of years.
After more than 350 years of private and restricted access, this area is made accessible thanks to Sépaq. Among other things, you will discover a majestic salmon river that crosses this 42 km2 area, which is now part of the Chic-Chocs nature reserve.
The sea and its barachois already allow hikers to grab a bite to eat while discovering the awe-inspiring beauty of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. Fishermen can wade for sea trout and striped bass in the coastal area.
HORIZON COTTAGES ON LAC BERTHIAUME
A brand new sector is now accessible in the Laurentides Game Reserve, that of Lake Berthiaume. Six new Horizon type cabins newly built will be able to accommodate fishing enthusiasts very comfortably this season.
Exclusive to Sépaq, these cabins offer large windows overlooking the lake and their layout has been designed with the needs of anglers and hunters in mind.
Located in the western part of the reserve, Lake Berthiaume is at the heart of a sector well endowed with beautiful waters nearby.
ELSEWHERE ON THE RESERVES
Fans who want to go head-to-head with the giant zanders of La Vérendrye Game Reserve can expect new accommodations. Eight Étoile Ready-to-Camping units will be available on the shores of Grand-Lac-Victoria in a newly renovated and more spacious campsite.
In the Portneuf nature reserve, on the shores of Lake Tessier, two new Horizon huts have been built, including one for people with reduced mobility.
It was built at ground level, with widened doors, adapted living rooms and bathrooms. It is opposite the lake. Also on the Portneuf Reserve, two more -Horizon cottages were built on the shores of Lake Proulx. These four new chalets are located in the Talbot sector, very popular with enthusiasts for its proximity to the Rivière-à-Pierre reception center. They are all powered by electricity.
These chalets will also be accessible to cross-country skiers and snowshoe hikers in winter.
The Port-Daniel Wildlife Reserve is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. For the occasion, it offers a very interesting novelty: a floating dock! It’s 50 meters long and stretches across Lac Caché, so youngsters can cast out their line and catch speckled trout without having to get in a rowboat.
The ninth edition of the game reserve’s traditional fishing competition takes place on Grand Mégantic Lake.
