“The Quebec Outfitters Network represents 340 outfitters in 16 Quebec tourist regions,” says Josiane Lavallée, communications director for the Quebec Outfitters Federation. We have 20 species for fishing and 18 for hunting. This year, we, members and non-members combined, have 188 exclusive outfitters and 378 non-exclusive outfitters, for a total of 566 outfitters. The area of exclusively leased areas is 24,811 km2. If we exclude Anticosti, it is 17,570 km2 or about 1% of Quebec’s territory.
The outfitters offer you numerous options for accommodation: houseboats on the Gouin reservoir and at outfitter La Barrière, yurts, tipis, glamping and very comfortable cabins and inns.
A total of 113 outfitters offer a single hut at the water’s edge. For example, at the Hosanna Outfitter in the Natisk Sector you can have a single cabin with two lakes where you can leisurely fish for beautiful speckled trout believing you are alone in the world.
PASSIONATE PEOPLE
Providers are first and foremost passionate people.

They have all the knowledge necessary to provide you with a great fishing trip. Several outfitters offer the guided fishing formula. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced rider, you will have the opportunity to fully enjoy your adventure.
If you don’t have fishing gear, we’re here to help. The outfitter will tell you all the secrets to catching your catch, be it the right bait or the fishing spots on specific lakes.
For its trophy lakes, the outfitter limits the number of catches to allow more anglers to catch big fish. For example, on the Monts-Valin, at Pourvoirie Poulin de Courval, you can enjoy the large lake full of fish and small lakes with large trout.
The providers are doing well. They protect their territory and the species that live there. In this way they ensure the sustainability of their part of the country for the benefit of all amateurs who visit them.
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
We should also mention that several outfitters offer different activities to enrich the stay in nature. They have adapted to the reality of today’s fishermen.
Quebec outfitters have long practiced sustainable development.
They ensure the proper development, protection and regeneration of resources.
Lakes and other watercourses must be of good quality to provide optimal habitat for fish. Moose, white-tailed deer and black bear populations must be properly and continuously managed.
Several suppliers have been composting for several years. They have started the energy transition to solar and other energy sources because in most cases they are located in remote areas and do not have access to the Hydro-Québec network.
Four outfitters in Monts-Valin took part in a pilot project that reduced their waste by 78% through composting and recycling. In the Outaouais, four outfitters participate in initiatives designed to encourage the discovery of local products.
The outfitters are real nature professionals whom you can trust to offer fishing adventures for two, with the family or in a group of enthusiastic anglers.
The best way to find your destination among the different outfitters in Quebec is to visit the pourvoiries.com website under the ‘Find outfitters’ tab. You can enter your criteria regarding the species of animal you are looking for, the services, the type of accommodation, etc., giving you access to a personalized selection according to your needs.
