“I can confirm that we are writing a letter of complaint to the Ethics Commissioner because there is actual material,” Rosemont MP Vincent Marissal said during a news conference at the National Assembly on Thursday morning.
The Liberals have already sent a question to Mrs Mignolet. “We are formally asking the ethics commissioner to take the file and examine it,” said interim director of the PLQ, Marc Tanguay.
“When a minister appears to have a conflict of interest, questions need to be asked,” Mr Tanguay added.
Pierre Fitzgibbon took part in a pheasant hunting party on the province’s island over a weekend in October, according to information from our investigations office.
If he has not paid for this activity, Mr. Fitzgibbon must file a statement with the Ethics Commissioner within 30 days as the cost of participating in such a hunting party is over US$200.
“He has exceeded the normal time limits for declaring this type of gift. We’ll agree it’s more than $200,” argued Vincent Marissal.
arrogance
The supporting MP also believes the Business Secretary is showing an arrogance that goes beyond the bounds, citing the reaction of Mr Fitzgibbon’s press secretary as an example.
“If you would like an interview on pheasant hunting, we’re willing to speak to one of your hunting and fishing columnists,” he wrote to our Bureau of Investigations.
“It’s pretty runny, thanks,” breathed Vincent Marissal.
“Mr Fitzgibbon who has failed to understand that he is no longer in business, that he is now a servant of state and that he needs to be careful with his gestures and the look of his gestures,” added the united MP.
“How long will the Prime Minister tolerate this? There is an ethical breach here. So if he’s not able to explain his affairs, we have to do what we’ve already done anyway, go through the ethics officer and file a complaint,” he concluded. .
