Five nights at Freddy’san adaptation of the game of the same name, debuted at the top of the North American box office and, as a bonus, broke several records.

The film grossed $78 million in theaters this weekend and had the best opening for a horror film of 2023. It also had the best opening for a film from production company Blumhouse, surpassing 2018’s Halloween, the 76th grossed $.22 million.

Additionally, FNAF also scored the secondbest debut for a film based on a game, behind only Super Mario Bros. The Movie ($146.3 million).

Back to the weekend list: Second place at the American box office went to Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. The concert film grossed $14.7 million in its third week in theaters.

Soon after came Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” with $9 million. Rounding out the top five are debut documentary After Death ($5 million) and The Exorcist The Devotee ($3.1 million). The full rankings can be found below:
