In Vaughan, a town about 30 kilometers north of Toronto, Canada, five people were killed Sunday evening in an armed attack by a man who entered an apartment building and fired a gun at the inside of several apartments. Local police said the man was killed by a police officer shortly after the attack and an investigation had been launched to understand the exact circumstances and motives. A sixth person was seriously injured and is currently in hospital in serious condition.
Gun ownership laws in Canada are generally more restrictive than in the United States, and such incidents are less common. However, in 2018, in a similar attack in Toronto, a man began firing a gun into a busy street, killing two people and injuring 13.
