Two children and a teacher were shot dead by a man in a Russian kindergarten. So the sniper killed himself, announced today the administration of the Ulyanovsk region on the Volga. Another kindergarten teacher was injured. As the fifth dead, the murder weapon’s owner was found shot to death in a nearby forest.
Information on the motive of the shooter, who was born in 1996, was not given. Ulyanovsk region human rights commissioner Sergei Lyulkov told his knowledge that the man had no connection with the children or the kindergarten staff.
The criminal entered the building in the village of Veshkayma while the children were sleeping and opened fire. Kindergarten had an alarm button that sent out a cry for help. The crime scene is about 100 kilometers west of the regional capital Ulyanovsk.
The shooter was known to authorities to have a mental disorder. The murder weapon, a double-barreled shotgun, belonged to another man. “The owner of the shotgun is dead, he was 68 years old. Investigators are clarifying the circumstances of his death. His body has been found,” Lieutenant Governor Alexander Korobko told TASS.
