Five things to keep an eye on in this other

Five things to keep an eye on in this other game against the Maple Leafs: Newhook with Caufield and Suzuki, same trio again for Dach

After a very sleepy game, the Canadians and the Maple Leafs meet again on the ice at the Bell Centre.

Here are five things to watch out for.

1 – Newhook on the front row wing

Sean Monahan was selected first overall at right wing alongside Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. Alex Newhook has now received the second one. The former Avalanche, who was deployed at center in his first preseason game, will now find himself at right wing.

2 – Roof with the same wingers

Kirby Dach will get a second game at center. And he doesn’t need to discover any new wingers. Rafael Harvey-Pinard and Juraj Slafkovsky will act as the big center on the wings. All three players had a strong game in Wednesday’s 4-3 win against the Ottawa Senators.

3 – Another game for Barron

Justin Barron knows no thundering camp. He was disappointing in Friday’s 2-1 loss to the Leafs. The Nova Scotian will be back in action tonight. Barron will play alongside Mattias Norlinder. On paper, there’s nothing too physical about this duo.

4 – The kidney undergoes an initial test

Riley Kidney, a second-round pick in 2021, will take the ice at the Bell Center for the first time in this preseason calendar. St-Louis will use him in center alongside Lias Andersson and Emil Heineman

5 – Leafs still without the big names

The Maple Leafs will play a second game on two nights in Montreal. And they will make a second journey in as many days. That morning they went skating again in Toronto. For the second day in a row they will arrive without the presence of their big names in attack. Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, John Tavares and William Nylander will remain on leave.

Morgan Rielly, TJ Brodie and Jake McCabe will be in uniform on the blue line.
