A child Five year old died drowned this weekend on a channel broward countyaccording to local authorities.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) reported that the minor was found drowned this Saturday after his disappearance was reported at Block 100 of Ann Lee Lane in the town of Tamarac in that county, Florida.
Miranda Grossman, a spokeswoman for the BSO, said in a Local 10 report Monday that someone called 911 just after 1 p.m. Saturday to report a child was missing.
After mobilizing Tamarac agents and firefighters, the child was found in a nearby canal. They provided him with life-saving treatment immediately after pulling him out of the water and sent him to a nearby hospital in a BSO helicopter, where he was pronounced dead.
The spokeswoman said the county’s homicide and crime scene units are investigating the circumstances of the child’s death, but so far there is no suspicion that there was a crime.
He also noted that “drowning is the leading cause of injury-related deaths in children under the age of five.”
He also recalled the importance of children being able to swim to avoid tragedies like this one.
