A five-year-old Berlin girl, missing since yesterday afternoon, is dead. A police spokesman said she was found injured by passers-by in Pankow public park at night. Paramedics attempted resuscitation. The child then died in the hospital.
Police assume a homicide and have arrested a 19-year-old Turkish-German as a suspect. The young man is said to have a connection with the girl – but there is still no information on what the connection is.
The child had “at least one stab wound,” he said today. Now possible witnesses must be questioned. According to the police, the girl would have been seen in Paule Park, behind the center of the town hall, before disappearing. From there, it’s just a few hundred meters to the back location.
What really happened is still unknown. As RBB reported, the police sometimes searched for the girl with nearly 100 rescuers and a helicopter. After the five-year-old’s death, people placed candles near where she was found, and a yellow flower and a stuffed animal were discarded.
