A pro-Palestinian protest outside the Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington DC has turned violent.
Police have already made several arrests after 150 activists “violently” attempted to storm the building on Wednesday evening.
Hundreds of protesters gathered to call for a ceasefire in Israel’s Gaza conflict, but clashes quickly broke out between protesters and DC Metro police.
Shocking footage from the scene shows a wave of protesters streaming toward the DNC building and being held back by police in high-visibility vests.
US Capitol Police are urging the public to avoid the area amid the chaos.

A statement said: “Right now, our officers are working to restrain approximately 150 people who are illegally and violently protesting in the area of Canal Street and Ivy Street, SE.”
“Officers are making arrests. All members were evacuated from the area. Please stay away from the area.’
A video taken around 8:30 p.m. shows clashes between protesters and police struggling to hold them back.
A woman is seen repeatedly shouting at an officer who tries to order her back: “F*** you b****!”
