The pilot of the Alberta team paid the Quebecer a very nice compliment on Monday.

“Jonathan Huberdeau is probably the best passer this team has ever had, maybe in all of history. [du club]’ said Sutter, whose comments were reported by the Sportsnet network.

Last year, while wearing the colors of the Florida Panthers, the 29-year-old forward had 85 assists, a record in the National Hockey League (NHL).

Huberdeau entered the Flames camp on July 22 alongside defenseman MacKenzie Weegar, potential Cole Schwindt and a first-round pick of 2025. In exchange, the Panthers got winger Matthew Tkachuk and a fourth-round pick.

The Saint-Jérôme native then signed an eight-year contract extension with the Calgary-based organization worth a total of $84 million.

So far in the 2022-2023 season’s pre-season calendar, Huberdeau has scored two goals in three games and has still not been involved in any of his teammates’ successes.
