Update 01/13/2023: Flash star Ezra Miller has pleaded guilty to unlawful trespassing in a plea deal that will see them avoid jail time.
As reported by News10 ABC (and spotted by Variety), Miller instead pays a $500 fine and faces a year’s probation with 41 conditions, including being banned from alcohol, random drug testing, and continuing her mental health treatment.
The trespassing charge is a significant reduction from the original charges Miller faced, including several more serious burglary offenses that faced up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
Original story 01/12/2023: DC and The Flash star Ezra Miller has been found guilty of wrongful trespassing in a Vermont burglary case.
Miller was charged with stealing three bottles of alcohol from someone’s home, but as reported by NBC, the other two charges of burglary and a petty theft are being dropped after negotiations between the two parties.
Miller is expected to plead guilty Jan. 13, with court documents showing prosecutors suggest they face 89 to 90 days suspended sentences, a year’s probation and a $500 fine.
The actor pleaded not guilty to the more serious burglary offenses in October, which, if convicted, would carry Miller a maximum sentence of 25 years.
The Vermont incident is just one of several legal troubles Miller has found himself in recently, and joins other examples in Hawaii, Massachusetts and North Dakota.
However, Miller apologized for their behavior in August last year and said they suffered from “complex mental health issues” and had started treatment. “I would like to apologize to everyone who has alarmed and upset me with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the work necessary to return to a healthy, safe and productive phase of my life,” they said at the time.
The Flash film was put in jeopardy due to the legal issues, but DC now appears to be moving forward with Miller in the role.
