While goaltender Marc-André Fleury played his 1,000th career game in the Bettman circuit, the Winnipeg Jets did the Quebecer no favors by picking up a 3-2 win over the Wild in Minnesota.
Despite the result, after the meeting, Marc-André Fleury had good words for his family and the people close to him who made a long career possible for him.
“They helped me get through the ups and downs,” he said. […] [Dimanche soir], people were loud to me. I had butterflies in my stomach. I don’t think any other job in the world can offer you that.”
His teammate Frédérick Gaudreau, who survived the defeat well with a goal and an assist, had good words for his goalkeeper.
“Before the game I asked him if he knew what he was going to experience,” said the striker. He was there one day after another and now he is here. He told me it was a process. He had fun every day. He's such a good person. All his teammates can see it.”
The Wild led 2-1 in the third period when the Jets scored two goals in just over three minutes to secure the win. Vladislav Namestnikov tied the game with a shot into the net, while Dominic Toninato grabbed a rebound and made the difference.
