In a photo that went viral, Floyd DeanShannon, a flight attendant for Delta subsidiary Endeavor Air, rose to internet fame this week for his selfless kindness.
During a flight from Charlotte, North Carolina, to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on January 14, Floyd sat next to a nervous passenger, Shannon, in seat 4C and offered explanations for every bump and flight noise.
“Hey, calm down, I’m with you,” the flight attendant said to the passenger. Despite the turmoil, this attention and care from Floyd calmed her.
“We were touched by the kindness of this flight attendant and proud that our employees demonstrate that humanity every day,” said Allison Ausband, Delta’s chief experience officer.
Floyd, who has been a flight attendant for the past three months, and Shannon are now friends on Facebook, but Floyd plans to be the same attendant for all of his clients. “As a passenger, I wanted to be treated the same way,” he said. “I have to remember; I also sat in this seat.”
Although flying is one of the safest ways to travel, everyone knows someone who gets a little nervous at 30,000 feet. But with Floyd DeanShannon in attendance, there’s no need to worry.
