‘Flip or Flop’ reportedly ‘too intimate’ for Christina and Tarek’s exes

On Thursday, Christina Haak and Tarek El Moussa announced that their HGTV series ‘Flip or Flop’ is coming to an end.

The hosts and former spouses shared the news in separate Instagram posts, stating that next week’s episode will be the series finale.

According to a person familiar with the situation who spoke to People, the show is ending because it became “too intimate” for the exes to film together.

“Tarek and Christina tend to be cordial. They are raising children together and nothing is stopping that,” the man told people. “The show was too intimate in this place and it’s time to close this chapter.”

Representatives for El Moussa and Haack did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.

The news comes after the exes got into a fight on the set of the series in July, according to People.

The publication reported that El Moussa yelled at Haack and compared her to his wife Heather Ray El Moussa from Sunset Sale.

“Look at me, look at me, look at me. It’s called winning,” El Moussa told Haak, according to People. The publication also reported that during the incident, he called his ex-wife “a complete loser.”

A source later told People that El Moussa was “very remorseful” about his comments, adding that Haak and El Moussa weren’t friends.

“They’re exes who share a common history, kids, and workplace, but aside from being raised together, they’re not friends,” the man told People.

Haack and El Moussa got married in 2009 and have two children who often appeared on their show. “Flip or Flop” began airing in 2013, showing the couple remodeling houses in California together.

The couple announced their divorce in 2016 and in 2018 their divorce was finalized.

They broke up seven months after police were called to their home after a “call from a possibly suicidal man with a gun,” as TMZ reported at the time. El Moussa was seen running from his home with a firearm he dropped after police ordered him to release it from a helicopter, TMZ reported.

“Like many couples, we had marital problems,” El Moussa and Haack said in a statement to People about the matter. “We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago and the police were called to our house with great caution. There was no violence and no charges were brought.”

Although Haak and El Moussa will not be filming new episodes of Flip or Flop, they will both continue to film the HGTV show independently.

“Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haak are longtime fan favorites on HGTV and it’s true that ‘Flip or Flop’ is coming to an end after an epic 10 season unscripted series,” the rep said. for HGTV, Insider said in a statement. “More than 90 million viewers have watched the popular series since it premiered in 2013.

“We look forward to seeing more of Tarek and Christina’s real life, real estate and renovation adventures in upcoming episodes of their solo series Flipping 101 with Tarek El Moussa and Christina on the Coast.

The network announced in a March 3 press release that El Moussa and Haack had signed multi-year contracts with HGTV.
