In Greece, there is severe flooding in northwest Athens. As of Tuesday evening, September 5th, 110 people are still trapped in the Pelion Mountains. We take stock of the situation with journalist Alexias Kefalas, live from Athens.

The Greek authorities are worried. The heavy rains are expected to continue until at least September 7th. “The concern is great, Tuesday evening [5 septembre]. “There are still 110 people, including tourists, trapped in the floods in Mount Pelion near Volos,” journalist Alexias Kefalas reports live from Athens. She states that these people are “in contact with the firefighters” but find it difficult to reach them.

The city of Athens on alert

“There is also great concern because this stormy episode is reaching the capital,” explains the journalist, recalling that the Athens region was affected by “devastating fires”. The authorities therefore fear massive flooding in the center of Athens. They are therefore calling on the population to restrict their movements on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.
