After Storm Daniel there is still chaos in Libya. The latest report shows more than 3,500 deaths in the city of Derna alone.

In the streets where the water rushed down, the force of the current swept away everything in the city of Derna (Libya). The riverbed has widened and the torrent is giving way to a field of thick mud. One building that is still standing is half destroyed, while the surrounding buildings have been razed to the ground. “Everyone is here, come and help them get out,” said one resident. Thousands of residents are buried in the ruins of their homes.

Surprised at night

The catastrophe is measured from the sky. For three days, survivors picked up bodies and dumped them on the sidewalks. Among the victims are many families and children who were surprised during the night. On Wednesday morning, September 13th, a journalist filmed the coast. We can see how the water has completely changed color. The danger came not from the Mediterranean, but from the failed dams above the city.
