Florent Pagny experienced one of the most complicated years in 2022. The 61-year-old singer battled lung cancer. Luckily today the singer is in remission and even ready to get back on stage soon to pick up his career where he left off.
To celebrate him after this difficult and uncertain period, TF1 has decided to dedicate a documentary to him on Sunday January 1st. Entitled Florent Pagny, A Free Man, it traces the artist’s career and returns to the most important moments of his life. For example, viewers were able to discover rare images of his marriage to Azucena Caamaño, celebrated in 2006. But before falling madly in love with the mother of his children Inca, born in 1996, and Aël, born in 1999, Florent Pagny lived a beautiful romance with him Vanessa Paradise.
You are crazy
When they met in 1988, he was 27 and she was only 16. Never mind, he is totally “subjugated” by his younger sister, as we learn from the documentary. Love at first sight is mutual, but to everyone’s surprise, their relationship doesn’t start until a few months later. “One morning I go downstairs, I arrive in his room and there I hallucinate. I see Vanessa Paradis’ face. I’m embarrassed, I’m petrified, I’m leaving. And so I’m on my ass,” testified his friend Jean-Pierre Loustau. And further: “So he wakes up, he comes for coffee and I say to him: ‘But Florent … Vanessa Paradis?’ (…) And indeed, he’s crazy, they’re crazy”.
Florent Pagny and Vanessa Paradis, both at the peak of their careers at the time, very quickly became THE fashion couple. Chased by the paparazzi, the lovebirds still find their love nest in Paris. But after two and a half years of relationship, the pretty singer decides to leave him in the summer of 1991. “I know it hurts her when Vanessa flies away,” recalls Jean-Pierre Loustau. “Even though he’s a strong person, a fighter, he’s living something terrible,” adds another artist. A wound long since healed, thanks in particular to the arrival of Azucena in his life.
