Florida: Gun shooting courses organized by the police

Learn to shoot with cops for $45? That's what the sheriff's office in a Florida county is offering with a course for residents of that state that, since last July, has allowed carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.

For example, a four-hour course will be offered on January 27th that will focus on providing information about firearms and especially those that can be concealed.

“Handguns will be available for the practical portion of the course, but we prefer that you bring your own if possible,” the Polk County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.

This lesson would meet “the Florida Department of Agriculture’s requirements for obtaining a concealed weapon permit,” it said.

However, since a law enacted by the state's governor, Ron DeSantis, last July, a license and shooting training are no longer mandatory for this type of weapon.

The course appears to have had some success as it was already fully booked and another was added the same day.
