The National Hockey League (NHL) announced on Friday that the Boston Bruins head coach has been nominated for the Jack Adams Trophy. The latter annually rewards the instructor par excellence of the Bettman Circuit.
Led by Montgomery, who led the team in his freshman season, the Bruins had an exceptional regular season. The Boston team recorded 65 wins and accumulated 135 points to take first place overall.
Dave Hakstol, meanwhile, had a major impact on the Kraken’s surprise season and is therefore also a contender for this prestigious honor. The Seattle team proved many pundits wrong by scoring 100 points and qualifying for the playoffs in just their second year of existence.
For her part, Lindy Ruff will try to add another Jack Adams trophy to her collection. The Devils head coach has taken his training to another level in 2022-23. The New Jersey team accumulated 112 points and finished third overall. Ruff had won this award in the 2005-2006 season.
Darryl Sutter was named head coach of the year last season. The NHL will hold its annual awards show on June 26 in Nashville.
