Flyer Carter Hart on the floor

Flyer: Carter Hart on the floor?

After a tough season, could the Philadelphia Flyers be without goalie Carter Hart for a while longer?

The 24-year-old goaltender was injured against the Hurricanes on Friday after being hit by forward Seth Jarvis, who himself was pushed by Flyers defender Rasmus Ristolainen. Struck in the torso, Hart may have suffered a concussion during the sequence as Jarvis’ helmet hit his mask.

Hart came on as a relief to younger colleague Samuel Ersson in a 5-6 loss for Philadelphia.

Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher said more will be known about Hart’s condition when the team returns to practice Tuesday.

The Flyers already have one of the worst records in the NHL at 11-17-7. Hart, who went at a 10-11-6 with a GAA average of 2.89 goals and a .911 save percentage, has been one of the club’s strongest players to date.

Should he be absent, it will be Ersson and Felix Sandstrom, two inexperienced goalkeepers, who will have to do the work in front of the team’s goal.
