Focus Features’ second film with filmmaker Robert Eggers, Nosferatu, hits theaters on Wednesday, December 25, 2024.

That’s good news for the end-of-year holidays, when products are still scarce. The only other wide entries on December 20, 2024 are Disney’s live-action sequel Mufasa and Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

“Robert Eggers’ bold filmmaking is always a gift to fans, and we can promise that his Nosferatu is planning a true Christmas,” said Peter Kujawski, chairman of Focus Features.

Nosferatu, written and directed by Eggers, is a gothic tale of obsession between a persecuted young woman and the fearsome vampire who is in love with her, causing unspeakable horror. The film stars Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney and Willem Dafoe.

Eggers produced alongside Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus (“Maiden Voyage”), Jeff Robinov and John Graham. Columbus was the EP from Eggers’ The Witch and The Lighthouse.

Focus previously co-financed and released Eggers’ Viking epic The Northman with New Regency, which grossed $70 million worldwide. Universal International is handling Nosferatu’s foreign distribution.

Focus’ current slate includes Alexander Payne’s The Holdovers, currently in theaters, and Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke’s upcoming Drive-Away Dolls; Zelda Williams’ feature directorial debut Lisa Frankenstein, written by Diablo Cody; “Back to Black,” about the life and music of Amy Winehouse, from director Sam Taylor-Johnson; Conclave by Edward Berger; Jeff Nichols’ The Bikeriders; Baltasar Kormakur’s Touch; and Goran Stolevski’s latest feature “Housekeeping for Beginners,” among others.
