The Albertan earned that honor for the third straight year after scoring the first goal in the country’s history at the World Cup in the Maple Leaf’s second game at the World Cup in Qatar. He is also the only forward in the John Herdman-led formation to have played every minute of the competition.

In 2022, the 22-year-old athlete tallyed three goals in seven games on the international stage and was voted Canada’s Player of the Month in April, June and November.

Elsewhere in Europe, Davies helped Bayern Munich win the 2021-22 Bundesliga championship and the German Super Cup, while also becoming the Canadians’ leader in the UEFA Champions League. From January to December he took part in 27 Bayern games.

The day before, Jessie Fleming received the women’s award for the second time in a row.
