Football: Canadian joins Italian superpower

Canadian winger Tajon Buchanan's transfer to Inter Milan would be official as the former Major League Soccer (MLS) player leaves Belgium to join the Italian Championship leaders.

According to renowned Guardian journalist Fabrizio Romano, this transaction would have cost the “Nerazzurri” 7 million euros (10 million Canadian dollars), in addition to certain bonuses. The Ontario native would leave Club Brugge after two years.

He is expected to travel to Italy on Wednesday and undergo a medical examination the next day.

Buchanan's stunning development continues as he was selected in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft. After impressing with the New England Revolution and making his national team debut, the 24-year-old made the jump to Europe.

In Belgium he performed well with 5 goals and 12 assists in 67 games in all competitions. In Milan he will compete for the position of the injured Juan Cuadrado on the right wing.

Buchanan has played 35 games for Canada, including all three group games at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He scored four goals and seven assists in his career.
