Since leaving North America and Orlando City SC, Larin has mainly played in Turkey but also in Belgium. It was Club Brugge, his compatriot Tajon Buchanan’s side, that gave him the opportunity to continue the season in Spain.

“I didn’t play much in Brugge, so I came here to play more and start scoring goals again,” he explained during his presentation to the media in the city of Castile and León on Wednesday.

Larin only made 13 appearances in Brugge, scoring just one goal. The 27-year-old had his prime at Besiktas, one of the most prominent trick clubs, scoring 39 goals in 108 games. In Spain, the caliber will be even higher.

“I’ve always enjoyed a challenge in my career,” he added. La Liga is one of the best leagues and I want to prove that I can play on the big circuits and with the best players.

Back in purple

As in the days when he showed up with the “Lions” in Major League Soccer (MLS), Larin will once again wear a purple jersey. Let’s say Real Valladolid has been in the red lately, 18th in the rankings.

One of Larin’s missions will be to get his new club out of the relegation zone.

“I came to help the team. I know she’s a bit lower in the rankings. I know the atmosphere is good, the coaches too,” he said.

“Before arriving I watched several games and I liked the style of play. I think it complements mine. I know Real Valladolid has a great history.”

Several Maple Leaf officials changed addresses after the World Cup in Qatar. Larin has a successful international record and one of his long-term goals is to remain in manager John Herdman’s favor.

“Being in Qatar for my first World Cup was a great experience. We played against the best teams in the world. Some of the World Cup players also play in La Liga. I’d love to do it again,” he revealed.

Larin could make his Valladolid debut against Valencia on Sunday.
