Football fans have hailed Colombia’s “passion” as it roars its national anthem at the Women’s World Cup – and say it eclipses the stars of England and the USA
Soccer fans celebrated Colombia’s passion during the Women’s World Cup as the players took to the pitch to sing their national anthem ahead of the game against England.
Sarina Wiegman’s side meet Colombia in the quarter-finals and know that if they win, they will advance to the quarter-finals.
Colombia have drawn attention, but it’s not because of their football on the field.
On Twitter, users praised the passion expressed during the national anthems.
One user said, “I mean, if the passion in singing the anthem means anything, then Colombia wins.”

“I can’t help but think if the line ‘Long to rule us’ was ‘So good, so good, so good,’ we’d enjoy singing that a little bit more.” Come on beauties.
Another football fan echoed this sentiment, stating that if a game was decided on the national anthems, Colombia would “undoubtedly” win.
“If a game were decided after playing the team’s national anthem, Colombia would undoubtedly win,” they wrote.
Another Twitter account slammed England for a lack of passion in the national anthem, stating: “Colombia shows how to sing the national anthem.”
“Why do some of the England team try not to sing the national anthem but still say it out loud? I trust you are proud to represent England.”
I mean if the passion in singing the anthem means anything then Colombia wins. I can’t help but think if the “Long to reg over us” line was “So good, so good, so good,” we’d enjoy that a little more. Come on you beauties π¦ #ENGCOL

If a game were decided after playing the team’s national anthem, Colombia would win without a doubt. #WomensWorldCup2023

Imagine if your national anthem was as important to you as it was to the Colombian team. There’s not enough money in the world to make me sing “God Save the King”.

It cannot be heard or seen that the England Lionesses sing our national anthem with love or passion.
Then the Colombian team and their fans are heard singing their anthem full of bravery and love…
What happened to our respect for our great country? Eh! πβ Six9Giant π¦½π¦Όπ₯Έπ§βπ£π¬π§π¬π§ (@Duckunderdoor1) August 12, 2023
Colombian women keep belting out their anthem, backing away screaming and getting lost in it, it’s just love to see. Just fantastic.
I don’t know why all of our teams just stand there apathetically and mimic ours, it’s kind of discouraging. Are we so ashamed to show patriotism? #ENGCOL

The Colombian players were also commended for “belting out” their anthem, as james_capie wrote: “Colombian women melodically belt out their anthem, screaming their heads back and getting lost in it, it’s just love to see.” Just fantastic.’
The Lionesses are hoping to show their passion on the pitch on their way to the World Championship.
