For Biden, the suspension of the fresh start is a serious mistake by the Moscow

Moscow’s suspension of the New Start Treaty was “a serious mistake”. This was stated by American President Joe Biden at the opening of a summit meeting of the so-called Bucharest 9 (B9) group, which includes the heads of state of Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, as well as NATO -Secretary Jens Stoltenberg on the last day of his visit to Warsaw

Group B9 was created in 2015 on the initiative of Poland and Romania to coordinate the security policy of Russia’s neighboring countries. The aim of the meeting is to strengthen NATO’s presence in the countries that are members of the group. “After Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, staying united is even more important,” Biden said. “You’re on the front lines and you know what’s at stake,” he added, repeating that the United States would defend “every inch of NATO territory.”

For his part, Stoltenberg said: “We don’t know when the war will end, but we certainly cannot allow Russia
jeopardize European security, we must break this cycle of aggression by Moscow”, referring to the conflicts in which Russia has been involved “since in Georgia in 2008”.

After the B9 meeting, Biden will hold a bilateral meeting with the Atlantic Secretary before returning to the United States around 5 p.m.
