Jeremy Renner
The actor talks about his recovery after the accident on January 1, 2023 during the New Year's Eve event with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen
Jeremy Renner, known for his role in the Avengers franchise, spoke about his recovery from a serious snowplow accident last year during an appearance on the New Year's Eve Live broadcast hosted by Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen.
The 52-year-old Marvel actor, who plays Hawkeye, broke more than 30 bones and suffered serious injuries in the accident on January 1, 2023. He expressed to Cooper and Cohen the gratitude he felt during his recovery, particularly thanking his 10-year-old daughter and his family and acknowledging the potential impact the event would have had on their lives if he had not survived.
“There was a lot to fight for, and recovery was a two-way street for me,” the Marvel star said. “My recovery became a relief for me because I knew I could bring relief to my family, my daughter and everyone I really affected.”
Renner was hospitalized in critical condition with blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries in early January 2023 when his Sno-Cat machine ran him over. The actor was trying to help his nephew clear snow from his car near his Lake Tahoe home when the Sno-Cat started rolling. The machine smashed into the actor as he tried to prevent it from hitting his nephew.
Renner shared that his attitude played a crucial role in his road to recovery.
“I never thought about my own physical problems, my own pain or my own fears,” said Renner. “I had to fight for so many things, so the road to recovery was just a one-way street of my mental attitude, and that attitude was always to get better. There is no other possibility.”
The actor had used social media to keep his fans updated on his progress by posting videos of himself walking for the first time with the help of an anti-gravity treadmill and moving around on a knee scooter.
Renner hinted that he was ready to return to acting after recently posting an Instagram story about him and Emma Laird, a co-star in Mayor of Kingstown, on set.
