The fact that Ginette Reno decided to sell her book exclusively (or almost) in Jean Coutu pharmacies surprised many.
What justifies this decision? The answer is financial.
On the pages of La Presse last week we learned that this unusual tactic allowed the artist to earn 50% of the profits, instead of the 10% he is usually credited with.
You should know that the singer herself covered the writing, editing, printing, and marketing costs, amounts normally borne by the publisher.
Producer Nicolas Lemieux told La Presse that the book had sold more than 50,000 copies in just one month and that sales continued to rise.
You should also know that the book will not (or almost not) be available in libraries, since the work must be purchased “in at least three authorized bookstores in your administrative region” and since Ginette is not available in bookstores.
Ginette Reno has decided to do things differently and unsurprisingly this has unsettled the relevant authorities…
