WAR IN UKRAINE – United against the war. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion on February 24, initiatives and support for Ukraine have increased around the world. While some take the floor or make donations, others choose art, in particular painting, to show their solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
This is especially true of many street artists, who in turn denounced the situation with symbolic works painted in several cities around the world. On them, which HuffPost USA noticed and which you can find in the slideshow belowwe can see some faces in the colors of Ukraine, as well as messages or unflattering allusions or representations of Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia.
Voskerski (London, UK)
The picture above is the work of Voskerski, a street artist based in London. In an interview with The HuffPost US, he said that painting is “the least he can do for Ukraine” other than sending money. “As an artist, I have a voice that can influence people and I have a moral obligation to fight injustice and support those in need,” he added.
Jenks (Llanelli, Wales)
In Pray for Ukraine, Welsh artist Jencks, who also spoke to HuffPost in the US, hopes that Ukrainians “if they see this image drawn from thousands of miles away, will not feel isolated and will know that” they are being supported in this terrible time for them’.
Julien Malland (Paris, France)
A street artist since childhood, as you can see above, the Frenchman Julien Malland, known under the pseudonym Seth Globepainter, dedicated his work to his friend Oleg, who remained in Kyiv. The Parisian told HuffPost US columns how much he was inspired by the children he met when he was in the Donbass in Ukraine.
“This drawing symbolizes the courage of Ukrainians in the face of the Russian invasion,” he said. “I’m not used to giving my point of view on current events, but I know how important it is for people going through this dramatic situation to know that we’re thinking of them.”
Corey Matty (Los Angeles, California)
“What is happening in Ukraine is not a Ukrainian problem. This is the problem of humanity, ”For his part, Cory Matty told HuffPost US. “This is the time when we must unite and stand against evil, fight for what is right.” According to our colleagues, the artist collaborated with tattoo artist Giuliano Trindade to design this piece, which features the head of Vladimir Putin carried by doves.
