Forbidden beaches in Sardinia for exercises? | What’s up Cagliaripad.it

Seventeen beaches in Sardinia are closed until May 27 for NATO exercises involving over 4,000 troops from seven different countries, according to the May 5 decree signed by the defense staff. Over 4,000 men from 7 Atlantic Alliance countries will practice war simulations on the Sardinian coasts aboard over 65 naval and aircraft vehicles.

An ordinance also banned and banned access to 17 sea areas near some of the island’s most famous beaches for military exercises with “immediate effect”. Most of the NATO exercises will take place just outside the areas of the three Sardinian polygons: Quirra-San Lorenzo, Capo Frasca and Teulada. Between Villasimius and Muraveraother places in preparation for the summer season, the bans concern the “military” areas in front of the golden beaches of Cala Pira and Capo Ferrato. Ever climbing on the east coast, regulation includes the sandy beaches right up to Capo San Lorenzo up to Murtas Beach.

In light of these regulations, writes Unione Sarda, which reported the story with concern, some programmed drills ban known beaches – Poetto, Villasimius or Porto Pino – while the towns of the island are preparing to welcome tourists. The Sardinian coasts are therefore in danger of becoming similar to “landings of Normandy as holiday paradises” – as explained by Il Fatto Quotidiano. In the last few hours, these off-polygon areas reach the peak of military activity.
