Shopping at a Walmart became a real adventure for dozens of shoppers in southern Ontario after they were unable to leave the store due to inclement weather conditions there.

As a result, employees began inflating mattresses and setting up an entire buffet for stuck customers, reports the Toronto Star.
“The cars were in the ditch. Some of them collapsed in the middle of the street. No one could pass,” said Heather Nickoli, a Conditions customer in Chatham-Kent, Ontario, Friday afternoon.
He and a friend were driving from Ohio to Peterborough, Ontario to spend Christmas with family when conditions forced the 401 freeway to close.
The couple booked a room in Chatham-Kent and decided to stop at a Walmart along the way, but they didn’t get far after shopping.
The police turned them away, telling them they couldn’t even make it to their hotel and would have to spend the night at the store.
“We went to Walmart and there were probably 100 people with nowhere to go,” he adds.

According to Walmart, around 50 customers spent the night in the store, including small children.
The staff even allowed the kids to play with the toys available on the shelves.
Another Walmart in Fort Erie, Ontario also took in a family who was stranded Friday night.
Everyone was allowed to leave the country on Saturday morning.
