A Big Brother Italy contestant, known locally as Gran Fratello, died last Friday night (5) after feeling ill in a bar. Monica Sirianni, 37, was in the province of Catanzaro in the Calabria region when she suddenly fell ill and was taken to hospital.

Local newspapers such as Napolike report that friends reported that she suddenly fell to the ground and that paramedics tried to revive her at the scene. Monica took part in the 2011 reality show and stayed at the house for a month.

She became famous for her engagement with the participant Fabrizio Conti, who ended the relationship he had with another sister. The courtship of the two lasted a short time outside the home.

The Italian was an English teacher and was born in Sydney, Australia, where her parents had emigrated. The police are investigating the cause of death.
