In January 2016, Ray Lewis III was arrested for sexual assault while he was a football player and a student at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina.

But months later, after a lengthy investigation by law enforcement officials in South Carolina, the claims were dropped.

“We were of the firm belief from the start that this young man was not at fault,” Tony Brittain, Lewis III’s attorney, said at the time. “I’m just relieved that prosecutors have looked into this so thoroughly and come to the similar conclusion that this case should not be pursued.”

Court records of the investigation revealed numerous inconsistencies in the allegations.

Ray Lewis, his father, is a former NFL star who played for the Baltimore Ravens throughout his 17-year career. He is considered the greatest middle linebacker in NFL history.
