Former FBI investigator believes suspected Idaho murder suspect Bryan Kohberger has joined online discussion groups

A former FBI investigator has suggested that Bryan Kohberger, accused of murdering four Idaho college students, has joined online groups discussing the murders.

Jennifer Coffinaffer said she followed comments from a Facebook user named Pappa Rodgers, who along with a Redditor named InsideLooking, made chilling speculations about the murders, which turned out to be true.

In an archive of the two online personas, which frequently took part in discussions of the brutal murders, both users pointed closely to the timing of the murders and the fact that police found a knife sheath, all before the details were made public.

Both users also seemed to repeatedly insist their speculations were correct and were both accused of being the real killers in their respective groups.

Coffinaffer appeared to side with those who believed at least one of the accounts belonged to Kohberger, 28 – who claims he is innocent.

“He was driving his own car, carrying his phone and not clamping his vagina tight enough, so I think he might be leaving a digital trail,” she tweeted. “He was a hot mess. Intelligence without common sense is tantamount to a criminal to be caught.’

The investigation in the online discussion groups comes as Kohberger was denied bail, while prosecutors revealed his DNA was found on the knife sheath lying next to one of the victims’ bodies.

On the popular Reddit group r/MoscowMurders, user InsideLooking made several speculations about the murder, while police kept quiet about the full details of the murders.

One of the posts read: “Murderer parked behind house. Approaching the property through the tree line. Enter the sliding door and leave it open.

‘Committed murders and left sliding door. A knife for corners [sic] Expression. Murder time approximately 3:20 – 3:40 a.m. according to car getaway scene and camera on Autobahn 8 approximately 3:45 a.m. The vehicle left skid marks on the exit. ‘

InsideLooking also pointed out that the images of a shoeprint police being investigated belonged to the suspect.

The prints did not match those of the victims or anyone in the home, leading investigators to believe they were left by the killer.

The user also insisted the white Hyundai Elantra would be the key to solving the case, predicting it would lead police to the suspect.

Amidst her speculation, InsideLooking seemed to catch the eye, and many made comments about her detailed posts.

One safely commented, “Dude solves his own crime… Psycho.”

Some have also pointed out that a profile picture for InsideLooking shows a person dressed all in black, wearing gloves and a headlamp.

A similar incident happened with Facebook user Pappa Rodgers, a member of the University of Idaho’s Murders-Case Discussion Group.

In a post to the group identified by Coffinadaffer, Rodgers wrote: “According to the published evidence, the murder weapon was consistently a large fixed-blade knife. That leads me to believe they found the scabbard.”

Rodgers seemed to insist the scabbard was real, even blasting it with other members who accused him of communicating “like a serial killer.”

An admin of the group later clarified that despite his apparent authority in the group, Rodgers was never an admin or moderator.

Kristine Cameron wrote, “He was on top of her arguing with people non-stop and saying some really scary things and asking similar questions to Bryan’s crime questions.

“We took Pappa Rodgers away at 7:10 p.m. the night before Bryan was arrested. He created a group page and had 6 people on it.

“No one has heard from Pappa Rodger since the arrest.”

Kohberger, 28, has been charged with the murders of Ethan Chapin, 20, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Madison Mogen, 21, and is being flown to Moscow, where the students were found dead at their home off campus.

Kohberger was seen smiling during a brief court appearance Thursday as police and prosecutors revealed their bomb case against him, including how his DNA was found on a knife sheath at the crime scene.

He was denied bail during a brief court appearance in Moscow on Thursday, shortly after an affidavit detailing the prosecutor’s case against him was shared online.

Kohberger spent most of the 10-minute hearing looking directly at Judge Megan Marshall as she read him his rights and the five counts of charges, responding “yes” when asked if he understood each count.

Kohberger once smiled at his attorney Anne Taylor. It’s unclear what prompted the grin that comes six days after he rose to fame as America’s most notorious alleged mass murderer.

Kohberger remained motionless throughout, but briefly began rocking when the judge told him he could face the death penalty. He will return to court for a status hearing on January 12.

Court filings included details of how Kohberger’s DNA was found on a knife sheath near the bodies of Maddie Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves.

The documents also describe how a surviving roommate, Dylan Mortensen, confronted a masked man believed to be Kohbegrer around the time of the murders, just after 4 a.m. on November 13.

Mortensen heard what she thought were her roommate’s screams and left her room to see a man in a black mask with bushy eyebrows. She froze in fear and watched him pass, then waited six hours before calling the police.

More details about Kohberger’s alleged stalking of his victims have been shared. His phone was found 12 times near her home in Moscow before the November killings, beginning in mid-August.

Kaylee Goncalves’ family were also in court, and her mother shook her head and sobbed as the indictment of her daughter’s murder was read.
