Duane Keith “Keffe D” Davis denied his guilt in the murder of the rap star this Thursday Tupac Shakur 1996 in Las Vegas. The former leader of a Southern California gang is one of the main suspects in the deadly shooting and the only living person who was in the vehicle from which the shot was fired.
Davis was denied the death penalty in this case, but could face life in prison if convicted. Clark County District Court Judge Tierra Jones appointed special defenders Robert Arroyo and Charles Cano to represent him. But the former gang member plans to hire attorney Ross Goodman, who said two weeks ago that prosecutors are missing key witnesses and evidence, including the gun or vehicle used in the murder committed 27 years ago.
Davis, 60, originally from Compton, California, was arrested Sept. 29 outside a home in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson., where police executed a search warrant on July 17. The indictment alleges that the suspect was the one who obtained the gun and gave it to the gunman in the back seat of a Cadillac from which he shot Tupac and wounded controversial music mogul “Suge” Knight in Las Vegas. The rap legend died a week later at the age of 25.
