Former professional baseball player Danny Serafini and a 33-year-old woman, Samantha Scott, were arrested Friday for the 2021 murder of a 70-year-old man, Robert Gary Spohr, and the attempted murder of another woman, Wendy Wood Spohr .

Mr. Serafini, who played for the Minnesota Twins and five other teams during his 12-year Major League Baseball career that ended in 2007, was arrested by authorities in Winnemucca, Nevada, CNN reports.

According to the Placer Sheriff’s Office, the former professional athlete was the victim’s stepson.

Ms Scott, the other person arrested, is also believed to know the family and may be their babysitter.

Placer County police found Robert Gary Spohr dead with gunshot wounds at a home in California near the Nevada border on June 5, 2021.
