Former anchor and reporter for globe, Fábio Turci posted a video to put an end to rumors about his sexuality. The journalist denied being gay and said he was a straight man who was an ally to the cause.

Turci explained that he was always asked whether or not he was part of the LGBTQIA+ statement. Until then, he preferred not to deny the matter or comment publicly on it to show that the “doubt” did not offend him.

“I’ve seen this question asked several times here on Instagram, on Twitter, on YouTube, other places online and outside of it, here in the real world, and I’ve heard from people asking their friends if I’m gay . Maybe even you have this doubt and I never denied it because I thought, “If I deny it, it might look like I’m worried about defending myself against something negative,” and being gay isn’t negative, that “It shouldn’t be seen that way either, so I didn’t deny it,” began.

“[Eu falava] “If people want to think I’m gay, it doesn’t bother me,” but then I realized that people only think I’m gay because they’re not used to seeing a cis straight man who about homophobia speaks transphobia, and then I changed my position, I started to deny it, because I understand that it is necessary to naturalize the participation of those who are not LGBTI+ in this debate, especially because they are people like me [heterossexuais] who predominantly commit discriminatory acts,” he added.

He launched the podcast last week with the intention of tackling inequality and pursuing the topic of diversity. Turci says he “went through an aha process” and sees himself as an ally of social movements.

Episodes are available weekly on Wednesdays on major audio and video platforms.

“After some personal and professional experiences, I became aware of the extent of racism and homotransphobia. I was never a denier of these problems, but I became aware of the breadth of the problems. “I was always the teenager who wanted to help change the world, and I also did journalism because I believed in it,” he concluded.
