A former Texas college football star and his two children were killed in a car accident while traveling to visit family for Thanksgiving.

According to Fox 4, Zach Muckleroy and his 12-year-old son Judson and 9-year-old daughter Lindsey died after a three-car crash on Highway 281 on Wednesday.

His wife, Lauren, survived the crash and was flown to the hospital in critical condition. She should “be aware that she has lost her family.”

A fourth victim died in the horror accident but has yet to be named.

Muckleroy’s family business, Muckleroy and Falls Construction, confirmed his death in a statement on Facebook, saying it was “heartbroken.”

“Zach had a charisma about him and an uncanny ability to light up any room he walked into,” Muckleroy’s company wrote.

“He had a charitable heart that made a lasting impact on the Fort Worth community. “He valued his family and was a proud TCU graduate.”

According to his LinkedIn page, the former college football player took over management of the family business three years ago.

A vigil for victims of the crash was held Friday evening at University Christian Church in Fort Worth, attended by hundreds of people.

Senior Minister Russ Peterman said he had been briefed on Lauren’s condition since the crash and that she had undergone several surgeries and had woken up.

“She is aware that she has lost her family. “You can only imagine how difficult this must be,” he said.

“I can’t imagine waking up and knowing the whole family is lost.”

He added that generations of the Muckleroy family have attended his church over the years.

“Zach was not only a member of the community, but also a friend. I love this family. These kids are amazing. “Lauren is a fighter,” Reverend Peterman said.

“He seemed to know everyone in the room and everyone knew him.”

He asked church members to pray for the family, adding: “This gracious family is now forced to deal with the most tragic and unimaginable situation.”

Former Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price is close friends with Muckleroy’s parents and shared memories of him as a child at the vigil.

“We all went to Sunday school together,” she said. ‘It’s incredible. “The Muckleroys are just pillars of our community and great Christians, great family people, good business people.”

In 2002, he graduated from Texas Christian University with a degree in accounting and finance with a concentration in real estate.

Muckleroy played for the 1998 college football team.
