Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Felipe Colares has died in Brazil after being hit by a bus.
This was reported by the Globo Esporte network on Monday.
The 29-year-old athlete had just finished a training session when tragedy struck the streets of Guaratiba, a neighborhood west of Rio de Janeiro.
Colares began his mixed martial arts career in 2013 and joined the UFC in 2019. He was fired from the organization in 2022. He held a professional record of 11-4.
The Brazilian made headlines last January when he helped foil a robbery in his home country. He explained that he used his notions of jiu-jitsu to control a suspect while waiting for the police to arrive.
