Former US President Donald Trump has been indicted in connection with an alleged bribe payment to a porn actress.
The New York Times reported on Thursday. Trump is the first former US president in history to face impeachment proceedings. The right-wing populist, who wants to compete again in 2024, denies all allegations and describes the investigation as a politically motivated “witch hunt”.
The grand jury in New York is responsible for the prosecution. The deliberations of the commission composed of 23 citizens are secret. The decision was originally expected by the end of April.
$130,000 for porn actress
The investigation is into a clandestine payment of $ 130,000 (about 120,000 euros) to porn actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election. The porn star, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, claims to have had a sexual affair with Trump in 2006 , what it denies. The payment itself is not illegal, but charges could include forgery of business documents or illegal campaign finance.
