Marco Troper, the son of former YouTube boss Susan Wojcicki, was found dead in his apartment at the University of California, Berkeley, earlier this week.
On Tuesday afternoon, the man, who was in his first year at the prestigious American university, died as a result of an overdose, according to his grandmother.
In an interview with SFGATE, Esther Wojcicki said she believes it was drugs that killed her grandson.
“He took a medication and we don’t know what was in it. “One thing we know is that it was drugs,” she said.
The family is still waiting for the toxicology report to confirm the young student's cause of death, but his loved ones may have to wait up to 30 days to receive that information.
According to a university spokesman, Marco Troper was found unconscious at around 4:23 p.m. Resuscitation measures were taken, but the young man's death was confirmed at the scene.
