Governor Pedro Pierluisi and his work team received yesterday Dayanara Torres to pay tribute to her on the 30th anniversary of her crowning as Miss Universe.
The beauty arrived in La Fortaleza to accept the first honors she will receive this week. She remembers the night of May 21, when she became the third Puerto Rican to be named the most beautiful woman in the universe.
“30 years ago he won the crown that brought so much love and hope to Puerto Rico. I say hope because a humble people could see themselves reflected in this jibarita of the countryside, of Toa Alta, with no economic resources, no luxuries, but in my home there has never been a lack of love, words of encouragement, and enduring values In my heart I follow them to this day and teach them to my kids,” Torres said upon accepting the recognition.
Torres was joined by her sons, Cristian and Ryan Muñiz, and her mother, “Supplied.”
Miss Universe 1993 thanked God and the Puerto Rican public “for the love He gives me because He was born to them.”
“For your prayers in good times and otherwise. Your prayers are coming true and today I am healthy and happy. What a blessing it is for me to be born here. Until my last days, I will say that I am proud to have been born here,” she added.
Torres was joined by her sons Cristian and Ryan Muñiz and her mother Luz Delgado. Lawmakers are expected to also pay tribute to the Puerto Rican beauty on May 25.
On the other hand, for this Sunday, the Municipality of Toa Alta is preparing a special day dedicated to the actress and singer. During the Toa Farming Festival celebrations, the City Council will honor the model and recreate the caravan that took place in Mexico in 1993 following the Puerto Rican triumph. The caravan is scheduled to depart at 12:00 noon and leave Avenida La Providencia and end in the public square.
