Founding member Rudolph Isley of the famous R&B, disco and soul group Isley Brothers has died at the age of 84.
His death was confirmed by the band to The Rolling Stone magazine, which did not provide any information about the cause of death.
“There are no words to express my feelings and the love I have for my brother,” his brother Ronald Isley said in a press release. We will miss him, but we know he is getting better.”
The group Isley Brothers, consisting of brothers Ronald, Vernon, O’Kelly and Rudolph Isley, became known in the late 1950s and 1960s for their hit song “Shout” and later for their adaptation of the song “Twist and Shout”.
Although Rudolph was rarely the lead singer on the group’s songs, he was instrumental in writing and providing backing vocals for several tracks, such as “That Lady”, “Nobody but Me” and “Testify”.
