Four dead and four seriously injured in a collision with an off-road vehicle at a wedding in Torrejón de Ardoz

Four people have died this Sunday and another four were seriously injured after being hit by an SUV around 2:40 a.m., according to Community 112 Emergencies sources of Madrid. The outrage happened as guests were leaving the celebration of a gypsy wedding with about 200 guests at the El Rancho restaurant at 6 Avenida Constitución in Torrejón de Ardoz (municipality of Madrid), according to the National Police. Three occupants of the vehicle that fatally ran over the four victims were arrested an hour later in Seseña (Toledo), while another managed to escape. The deceased are a 65-year-old woman and three men aged 37, 60 and 17 with fractures and multiple trauma.

Doctors from Summa112, the Red Cross, a city ambulance and civil defense personnel traveled to the scene and helped four other seriously injured people. This is a 31-year-old woman with severe head trauma who was intubated and transferred to Torrejón Hospital; a 50-year-old man admitted to Coslada Hospital with an open fracture of his leg; another 43-year-old man with severe head trauma and a broken leg who was transferred to Gregorio Marañón Hospital, and a 30-year-old woman with a fractured pelvis who was admitted to La Princesa Hospital.

Two families were celebrating a wedding when members of another clan drove into the restaurant in an SUV, according to investigators. There they proceeded indiscriminately against the banquet guests who were just leaving the celebration and carried out a massacre. The manager of the restaurant told Europa Press that the celebration was proceeding normally and that he suddenly heard screams coming from the kitchen and saw some of the terrified diners, and with terrified children, running back inside to take cover and ask for that you’ll call the police.

After notification of the event, the agents issued the alert with the type of vehicle and the place where the events had occurred, and an hour later a car with visible damage to the front end was intercepted in Seseña (Toledo) driving without bumpers and at high speed. The three occupants were arrested. It is about a 35-year-old father and his two children, 15 and 16. All indications are that they tried to flee, but when they saw the vehicle with the bumper and several broken windows, Civil Guard officers stopped them. There is also a fourth inmate, a nephew or cousin of those arrested who are still wanted. At the moment, the origin of the family quarrel that led to this tragic outcome is unknown.

“The Toledo Commando Citizen Security Unit and the Seseña Post Patrol locate the vehicle and three people are arrested and a fourth manages to escape from the scene despite being identified. The detainees and the vehicle involved will be handed over to the Madrid National Police Homicide Squad, who will direct the procedure for these events,” the Guardia Civil reported in a statement.

Also affected were a 20-year-old man with an open fracture who was transferred to the Príncipe de Asturias Hospital in Alcalá de Henares, and a 17-year-old woman who was discharged at the scene with numerous bruises from the accident, both with mild prognosis.

Summa112 activated the Multiple Victims Incident (IMV) procedure and 22 health teams were on site, including Summa112’s psychologist on duty, who treated several anxiety crises in the families of the victims.
