Four losses in five games: Laval Rocket out of the playoffs

The Laval Rocket are not in their best phase of the season and a 2-0 loss to the Americans in Rochester on Wednesday night only added fuel to the fire. The school club of the Montreal Canadiens finds itself aside from the playoff portrait for the time being.

Laval tried to defend his fifth place in the north section, the last to give access to the spring calendar. However, his loss coupled with the Belleville Senators’ win over the Utica Comets caused Jean-François Houle’s formation to slip.

Cayden Primeau is generally very successful against the Americans. His nine-game winning streak against this team came to an end, but the goalkeeper had nothing to be ashamed of. He made 30 saves in the lost cause.

Early in the second period, his teammates played gently with the puck on the power play, allowing Brandon Biro to escape. The latter’s shot was then unequivocal. Lukas Rousek completed the goal in the empty goal.

The missile’s attack met Malcolm Subban, author of a 29 save shutout. Mitchell Stephens was notably denied a goal by officials after he blocked Corey Schueneman’s throw with his glove.

With 13 remaining games of the season, the CH subsidiary has 58 points, one fewer than the Senators. However, they have a game on their hands.

After losing four of their last five games, the Rocket will face the Comets back-to-back at Place Bell on Friday and Saturday.
