A boy fell under a steamroller at a construction site in the German town of Celle and died at the scene of the accident. The four-year-old boy wanted to cross the street with his father and eight-year-old brother at an intersection, a police spokesman said on Monday. The boy was behind the steamroller when he started to walk backwards and picked up the child and his bicycle.
The driver of the roller was unable to see the child, the 57-year-old man suffered a shock and was taken to hospital. It was a tragic event and also a stressful one for the emergency services, the spokesperson said. The boy’s father and brother received pastoral care.
