Don Fabio Rosini, Director of Vocations Ministry of the Diocese of Rome, comments on the Gospel of January 28, 2024, the fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Sunday of the Word of God
In this Sunday's Gospel (Mark 1:21-28) Jesus heals a man in the synagogue who is possessed by an unclean spirit
At that time Jesus entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, [a Cafàrnao,] he taught. And they were astonished at his teaching: in fact he taught them as one in authority, and not as a scribe. And behold, in their synagogue there was a man possessed by an unclean spirit who began to cry out, “What do you want from us, Jesus of Nazareth?” Have you come to ruin us? I know who you are: the Holy One of God! And Jesus sternly commanded him: “Be quiet! Get out of him! And the unclean spirit came out of him, tormenting him and crying out loudly. Everyone was filled with fear, so much so that they asked each other, “What is this?” A new teaching given with authority. He even commands the unclean spirits and they obey him! His fame immediately spread throughout the Galilee region.
