A brutally awkward misspelling surfaced during a Fox News program that referred to Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, as the “princess of the whales,” a giant sea creature.

The graphical glitch, which accidentally messed up the princess’s official royal title, happened during the morning segment of America’s Newsroom, hosted by co-hosts Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino.

Reflecting on their predictions for 2022, the co-hosts offered more for the coming New Year when the graphical glitch surfaced around the show’s three-minute mark.

Perino predicted the 40-year-old Princess of Wales would announce her pregnancy in 2022 – which didn’t happen.

The co-hosts were pondering their 2022 predictions and offering their 2023 predictions when the mistake, accidentally made by the network's graphics team, surfaced during the show's three-minute mark

But what happened was that she took on the title “Princess of the Whales after the death of Queen Elizabeth” — those were the exact words that appeared on the monitor.

The title of Senior Royal is named after the country of Wales, which is part of the United Kingdom – and not the great aquatic animal.

The show went on, and both Hemmer and Perino shared their predictions for 2023, which included a border visit for President Joe Biden, a ban on TikTok, and a Super Bowl win for the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Fox morning show, which runs Monday through Friday from 9 am to 11 am, focuses on current events, political analysis and interviews and has been part of the Fox News programming since February 2007.

Eagle-eyed viewers were quick to spot the spelling mistake this morning.

One person wrote: “Ok I know I saw that. I couldn’t believe it but it’s true. That was on a screen on Fox News. “The Whale Princess”. WTH? And these news people are to be educated?’

Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales is a senior member of the royal family. She is married to William, Prince of Wales, who is first in line to the British throne.

The royal couple married in 2011 and have three children together – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Kate became Princess of Wales following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8th of this year. Her Majesty died at the age of 96 after serving her country on the throne for 70 years.

The heir to the throne takes on the title of Prince of Wales – so when William took on the role, his wife Kate also took on their respective titles.

She is the first person since Princess Diana to hold the bestowed royal title.

Diana, the first wife of King Charles, died in a car crash in Paris in August 1997.

Although Queen Consort Camilla married the Prince of Wales in 2005, she did not take the title Princess of Wales out of respect for Diana.
