BEIJING, Oct 22 (Portal) – Foxconn Technology Group (2317.TW), Apple Inc’s (AAPL.O) biggest iPhone supplier, has been subject to tax audits at some of its key subsidiaries suspected of Chinese fraud State media reported on Sunday that they had violated laws and regulations.

According to the exclusive report by the nationalist tabloid Global Times, China’s Ministry of Natural Resources also conducted on-site investigations into the land use of Foxconn companies in Henan, Hubei provinces and other places. The investigation and its timing were not discussed in more detail.

Foxconn did not immediately respond for comment outside of regular business hours.

Zhang Wensheng, deputy dean of the Taiwan Research Institute of Xiamen University, told the Global Times in an interview that the tax audits and land use investigations conducted by relevant departments were from companies suspected of violating laws and regulations and a normal one procedures are.

“Foxconn’s subsidiaries are obliged to actively cooperate in audits and investigations, and if violations of laws and regulations actually occur, they should admit mistakes, accept penalties and strengthen correction,” Zhang said.
